The all-new Vauxhall Insignia has been revealed.

There's no doubt the Vauxhall Insignia is hugely popular with more than 30,000 models sold last year in the UK and it also, in 2009, won the European Car of the Year.

However, the new Vauxhall Insignia Grand Sport has new vehicle architecture with more space in the cabin and a more athletic and dynamic appearance.

Vauxhall says its new creation is not only safer but also more comfortable and relaxing than previous generations of the Insignia. New features include head-up display, front and rear seat heating and a heated windscreen.

There's also improved pedestrian protection thanks to the active aluminium bonnet.

Vauxhall Insignia Grand Sport will feature new engines

The Vauxhall Insignia Grand Sport will feature new engines including turbocharged versions along with the new gearbox though the automatic transmission will only, initially, be available with the all-wheel drive model.

As with many other car makers, Vauxhall is also developing the levels of connectivity and entertainment provided for the driver and passengers and they are able to utilise the latest Android Auto and Apple Play functions. There's also a Wi-Fi hotspot that seven devices can connect to.

Smartphones can also be charged wirelessly so there's no need for a cable and the excellent OnStar service will alert authorities to the car's location should it be stolen and will contact emergency services if it's involved in a crash.

New concierge service will prove popular

The launch of the Vauxhall Insignia comes at a time when the segment is becoming more competitive segment and it's likely to be a huge success since it will build on the firm’s commitment to delivering comfortable cars that have lots of equipment and impressive handling abilities.

After its debut at the Geneva motor show, the car will be available to order soon afterwards and deliveries will also commence, though there is no indication of prices as yet.
