How it works

  • It's easy to buy or sell a vehicle with users having to register with Car Trust.
  • The full HPI status (including any outstanding finance) of the vehicle will then be verified before the financial transaction takes place.
  • The sellers communicate directly with potential buyers, arrange a viewing and negotiate a sale price.
  • Car Trust then clears the credit in a user friendly and seamless way that is transparent and secure.
  • The fee for our safe and secure platform is just: £29.95 for sales less than £5,000; £59.95 for sales less than £20,000; and £74,95 for sales more than £20,000. The balance is paid to the seller after successful completion of the vehicle sale. NO SALE NO FEE!

The HPI Check:

As part of Car Trust’s commitment to offering a safe environment for buying and selling vehicles, we also offer a free HPI check on every vehicle registered with us. The HPI check is important because it will check for:

  • Outstanding finance
  • If it’s stolen
  • Number of previous owners
  • Mileage discrepancies
  • If it’s been recorded as scrapped
  • Any plate changes
  • MOT history
  • If it’s an insurance write-off
  • Logbook discrepancies
  • Chassis/VIN discrepancies

That’s an exhaustive and reassuring list to help ensure that every step that could have been taken to ensure the legality of the vehicle being sold is done. It's important that buyers using the Car Trust platform do so with confidence and are reassured that the vehicle they buy will be legally available for sale. It always pays to be careful and the question of outstanding finance on a vehicle is one reason why many people will use dealerships and traders even when they know they are receiving less for their vehicle than they would do through a private sale. Car Trust aims to bridge this gap and deliver a safe environment for both the buyer and seller.

With Car Trust, every possible step is taken to ensure a smooth, legal vehicle transaction.
